First of all, the most famous water safety rule, wear a life jacket so that if your ride betrays you, you still have a chance to survive.

Secondly, use the help of a guide if you are not familiar with the sea. Completely understand all of the necessary things to drive the boat. Locate and make sure that your boat has all of the required equipment.  Now when you have boarded your boat and have started moving it, it is always advised to mind your surroundings, look out for other watercrafts, swimmers and divers.

Do not overload your boat more than the capacity of your boat, maintain a steady speed and keep your distance from other objects in the water such as boats.

Avoid splashing through waves produced by other watercrafts and do not use them as a ramp to perform stunts as it can lead to some serious injuries.  Begin with a slow speed and then slowly increase your speed when you reach open waters.

Do not consume alcohol when riding the boat.  Avoid racing with other riders on your boat and stay alert of other rides and remain clear off residential areas.

Always inform other watercraft drivers of your presence by at least addressing them while overtaking.  Always stay away from fishing boats, as fishermen often have nets spread in the water around them and it can cause some serious damage to you, your craft, the fisherman and obviously his boat.

Always wear gloves and other footwear to maintain your grip and control over your watercraft.  Maintain your Jet skis, always inspect your Jet ski for possible wear and tear and do not neglect even a slightest defect in any part, it may cost you, your life.  Never leave your Jet ski unattended, when not in use and use a Jet ski lift to transport it to some place safe. If your boat is engine powered then use a safety auto-kill switch that cuts your engine's power supply instantly upon an accident, ensuring your and other people's safety.

So, please follow the above mentioned steps while driving your boat.  Follow all of the rules and regulations set up by the water authorities.  Remember, that you must be eligible to the age rules set up by your government.  Always remain in the sight of shore, to get quick help in the case of an emergency.
